PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Dr. Rita Basu, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Education on Director of the UVA Center for Diabetes Technology, will direct a dynamic and interactive program that highlights state-of-the-art treatment for those with diabetes.
This one-day program, of interest to physicians, nurses, educators, and researchers, focuses on the advances and trends in the management of diabetes in out-patient and in-patient settings. This includes the availability of new therapeutic options and the impact of technology-informed monitoring for patients with diabetes. These advances, in combination with effective patient provider communication, can contribute to improved patient outcomes and quality of life. The incorporation on of new technologies for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) provides data that can inform and enhance lifestyle changes. Providers can integrate CGM data into electronic medical records and reframe their approaches to care based on these new technologies and therapeutic alternatives.
The program agenda incorporates moderated discussions, case studies, round table discussions, and other opportunities for hands-on experiences. FMI: Eva Casola or 434.924.1657
