LEARNS Project

Lions Empowering and Aiding Regional Nurses in Schools (LEARNS) Pilot Project

A new pilot project will be funded to benefit children with diabetes attending over 500 Northern Virginia Elementary Schools in 40 school districts during the 2019-2020 school year. This training is funded by a generous grant of $18,000 from the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) and local Lions Clubs District 24-L. The Virginia Diabetes Council (VDC) members working with the Lions Club International Foundation and local Lions Club District 24-L identified the need for additional training and support to diabetes education resources within the school system.

Please review the School Nurse Application to learn more about the project and the application process.

The LEARNS Project team encourages each school division within the 24L region to participate in this project. Please complete the attached application to begin the next steps. We will reach out to the School Health Coordinators to enroll staff members once the grant is approved. Thank you for teaming up with us in this initiative.
